Established in 1991, the Montana Grazing Lands Coalition was the first organization of its kind – a convening of agriculture focused industry partners with the goal of increasing access to  technical assistance resources for ranchers. While the group of stakeholders has evolved, our mission and values have held steady and grown stronger. 

Today, Montana GLC works to serve more producers than ever before by building strong partnerships, forging new paths toward innovation and advanced grazing management planning, and by adding capacity through grants and on-the-ground work. Through facilitating conversations between landowners, ranchers, land managers, agencies, conservation NGOs, and agricultural industry groups we work to better understand the everyday needs of all of those who have interest in grazing lands to fill gaps in technical assistance offerings and resource delivery. 

At the core of our mission is sound grazing management planning and adaptive strategies, technical assistance support and delivery, and community-based collaboration through partnership and connections resulting in the protection and preservation of the Treasure State’s most valuable resource: grazing lands. 

Beyond delivering technical assistance and connecting ranchers to financial assistance, we’re building meaningful and strategic partnerships, collaborating on new, innovative grazing solutions, and working toward creating an expansive, greater connected network of producers, agencies, NGO’s, and other agriculture focused groups interested in conserving Montana’s working lands and preserving the state’s strong grazing heritage.
